Ageless Grace

Ageless Grace (CRN 11437): $35. Meets Tuesdays, Oct. 17 through Nov. 30, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., SFSC University Center, Room 109. Ageless Grace is a brain fitness program based on neuroplasticity that activates all five functions of the brain-analytical strategies, kinesthetic learning, memory/recall, creativity, and imagination, and simultaneously addresses all 21 physical skills for lifelong optimal functions.

Nia Technique “Love Your Body Workout”

Nia Technique “Love Your Body Workout” (CRN 11168) $30. Meets TBA, 5:30 – 6:30, SFSC University Center, Room 109. Nia Technique “Love Your Body Workout” is a fusion fitness technique of dance, Duncan, Jazz, and Modern. The power and precision of martial arts Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, and the wisdom of the healing arts. Nia cardio-dance workouts are non-impact and combine 52 simple moves with self-expressive free dance to et you fit in 60 minutes. Benefits include strength with flexibility, improved coordination, tension release, supports weight loss and metabolism, and improves circulation.

Social Media

Introduction to Social Media (CRN 21032 ): $45. Meets Thursdays, Feb. 1-22, 2-4 p.m., SFSC University Center, Room 207. New to Social Media? Not sure of the difference between a tweet or a post, a pin, a circle or connection request? Not sure of the difference between Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat or Google+, let alone know which ones you should be using. Our beginners training course will give you a great introduction to social media, with an overview of each of the main platforms and some great tips and tricks; we’ll walk you through each one and give you the confidence to get started. Billions of people around the world use social media to share information and make connections. On a personal level, social media allows you to communicate with friends and family, learn new things, develop your interests, and be entertained. On a professional level, you can use social media to broaden your knowledge in a particular field and build your professional network by connecting with other professionals in your industry.

Aquabics is a moderately paced aerobic water exercise class for toning, weight loss, and building strength. It’s easy on the joints, but still provides resistance.

Body Sculpture

Low Impact Body Sculpture (CRN 21345): $35. Meets Mondays and Fridays, 12:15 – 1:15 p.m., Jan. 22 through Feb. 16, Criminal Justice Academy Building, Room DD220. Body sculpting is a non-aerobic, muscle-toning class, focused on core strength. Tighten and tone your entire body with low-impact high intensity moves. Fast-paced movements build strength and balance while improving your mobility. Fluid low-impact sequences burn serious calories without putting stress on your joints. When you’re done, you’ll feel that exhilarating glow that comes with doing something great for your body! Participants should bring  a mat to class, resistant bands and hand weights. Tone up on your lunch hour after the holidays!

Zumba Fitness (CRN 21342): $35. Meets Mondays, Jan. 29 through Feb. 19, 5:45 – 6:45 p.m., Building DD, Room 220. Forget the workout, just lose yourself in the music and find yourself in shape at the original dance-fitness party. Zumba the original dance fit-ness party class feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before you know it, you’ll be getting fit and your energy levels will be soaring! It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating.

Salsa Rhythm

Basic Salsa Rhythm (CRN 21365): $39.99. Meets Thursdays, Jan. 23 through Feb. 13 5:30-7 p.m., Health and Science Building Lobby. Salsa dancing benefits our heart and cardiovascular system, and also increases lung capacity, builds flexibility and coordination, and promotes weight loss. Most of all it’s fun! The basic level class will cover basic steps, side steps, left and right turns, cross body lead, and timing along with partnering skills, and basic lead and follow skills. No prior dance experience is needed.

Intermediate Salsa Rhythm (CRN 21366): $39.99. Meets Thursdays, Feb. 15 through March 8, 5:30-7 p.m., Health and Science Building Lobby. Salsa dancing benefits the heart and cardiovascular system, and also increases lung capacity, promotes weight loss, and builds flexibility and coordination. Intermediate Salsa is for students who have completed the basic level course or for those who have a secure grasp of the basic elements of salsa, and partnered dancing. At this level, participants will continue to build on movements mastered in the basic level salsa class.


 

Basic Home Computer I

Basic Home Computer I (CRN 20278): $80. Meets Mondays, Jan. 22 through March 19,  5:30 – 7:30 p.m., SFSC University Center, Room 207. This introductory class is designed specifically for beginners who have little or no computer experience.  Participants will have hands-on training in a computer lab, and by the end of the eight week class be able to navigate the internet and other important programs on an intermediate level.

Pine Cone Quilting

Pine Cone Quilting (CRN 21043): $40. Meets Tuesdays, Jan. 23 through Feb. 13, 10 – 11:30 a.m., Building H, Room 110. Pine Cone Quilting is rich in history and makes a beautiful quilt. The four-week class will strive to teach you hand sewing techniques, color selection, scissor skills, relaxation and increased patience. No sewing machine is needed, just your needle, thread, scissors and fabric. Each student will make a sample square 24 x 24 inches to get the feel of what it will be like to make the entire quilt. The finished piece will be suitable for a wall hanging, framing or a large pillow top.

Chair Aerobics (CRN 20698): $15. Meets TBA, 9 -10 a.m., Building 400, Room 401. Seniors and individuals with mobility issues use chair aerobics to participate in exercise but without the impact and risk of falling of regular aerobics classes.  Chair Aerobics will raise the heart rate above resting levels and improve cardiovascular fitness. If you want to drop in and try this class it is $5 per class.
