Admission Requirements

You must complete an application to the Honors Program and satisfy these requirements.

GPA Requirements
You have achieved one of these criteria:

You have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.50 (unweighted) or you rank in the top 10% of your high school class

– or –

College cumulative GPA of 3.3 in at least 12 hours of college credit courses

Test Score Requirements
You have achieved one of these four criteria:

  1. You took the SAT Reasoning Test and earned a combined score of 1100 or higher in Mathematics and Critical Reading.
  2. You took the ACT and earned a composite score of 25 or higher.
  3. You took the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) and earned a minimum score of 120 in reading and 120 in writing.
  4. You petitioned the Honors Council, by letter, to exempt you from the test score requirement, accompanied by two letters of recommendation from college instructors. This option requires a personal interview with the Honors Council.

Honors Graduation Requirements

To earn an Associate in Arts (AA) degree with an Honors Program endorsement, you must:

  • Be admitted to the Honors Program
  • Complete at least 15 Honors credit hours, including two required courses:
    • IDH 2001-06, The Honors Seminar (variable-topic interdisciplinary seminar, 3 credit hours), with a grade of A or B.
    • IDH 1107, The Competitive Edge (humanities-based leadership course, 1 credit hour), with a grade of A or B.
  • Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or greater
  • Demonstrate the ability to make successful oral presentations
  • Complete 25 documented hours of service-learning
  • Complete all additional requirements for an AA degree
