Biography
Melanie Morgan Jackson attended the University of Kentucky (UK) in Lexington and received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Ky. While attending college, she worked as a data processor and administrative assistant in the registrar's office at UK and Cumberland. Melanie received her Master's in Education in Instructional Technology from the University of South Florida.
She taught at Avon Park High School for 10 years, serving as the webmaster, chairperson of the Business/Computer Science Department, and teaching Web page design and digital publishing. She also coached cheerleading and girls basketball and volleyball, while advising the junior class and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Jackson received a TeachNet grant sponsored by Florida Power and was named to Who's Who Among American High School Teachers several years in a row.
Jackson served as an adjunct instructor at South Florida Community College since 1995, teaching Introduction to Microcomputers, Computer Science courses, and in the Secretarial Certification Program. She holds certificates in Secondary and Middle School Business Education, Computer Science, and Post Secondary Computer Science.
Jackson joined South Florida Community College as the director of educational technology and the webmaster in November 2003. She serves as the SFCC representative to the Florida Distance Learning Consortium. She continues to teach computer science courses and is the advisor for Phi Beta Lambda.
