General Educational Development (GED)

The GED program is available to residents of Florida 18 years of age or older who do not have a high school diploma.  Those students ages 16 and 17 not regularly enrolled in high school may take the GED Test with a waiver.  Please contact the Adult and Community Education (863-784-7380) for details. To enter the program, students must have Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores of 9.0 or higher.

The curriculum emphasizes five areas of study, which are essential for success on the General Educational Development Test:  Language Arts - Writing, Language Arts - Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.  These classes prepare students to pass the GED Exam.  Upon attaining a passing score on all parts of the GED Exam, students are awarded a State of Florida High School Diploma.
