REA 0001C DEVELOPMENTAL READING 3 coll. prep. crs. The main objective of this course is to improve the student’s ability to comprehend written material. Major topics include identifying the main idea, locating important details, recognizing tone, understanding figurative language and knowing when to adjust reading rate. Cannot be counted toward A.A. or A.S. degree requirements. (PR)
REA 1105C READING ACCELERATION I 3 cr. hrs. This course is designed to help students develop flexibility in reading speed based on their needs and the type of reading done. At the same time, comprehension and vocabulary development are emphasized so that the student does not build speed at the expense of comprehension. Special equipment and materials in an individualized mode may be utilized. A diagnostic test is administered during the first week of class to determine the student’s individual needs. (TR)
REA 1106 READING ACCELERATION II 3 cr. hrs. This reading course is designed for college students who can read, but need to refine their critical comprehension skills so they become not only efficient, high‑comprehension readers who are skilled in anticipating and analyzing test questions, but rapid readers as well.
