Music

The music programs I taught have utilized my expertise in music technology, including MIDI and interactive classroom research/learning.  My experience as a performer was with the military, state, civic and church affiliated organizations.  I played and sang in international concerts and shows, and participated as a multicultural instructor and “musical ambassador” of public relations.  Some of my other credentials are in keyboards, clarinet, voice, organ and other acoustic and electronic stringed instruments.  Recent work with students at SFCC embrace vocal ensemble performances for the community including the Florida Hospital Festival of Lights, Epcot Center’s Candlelight Processional, SFCC Foundation’s Fund-Raising Banquet, an appreciation banquet for Highlands Hammock Park volunteers. Other performances were requested for the fall semester at local and Orlando Epcot events.

Welcome.

First, a little background about myself. I will receive a doctorate in piano performance and pedagogy next year from the University of Colorado at Boulder after completing dissertation work with several lecture recitals and a research study and course textbook.  I already have over 10 years experience in music education and performance.  The teaching experience is in primary, secondary, college, and community education settings, and in public and private schools and studios.

SFCC College Choir performing in the Masterworks Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Last Memorial Day we performed as part of a 150 member Festival Choir for the Masterworks College Festival at Carnegie Hall, New York.  I am proud that the students raised almost all their own support through their hard work, help from the Student Activities Department and many community and foundation scholarship donations.  We were honored with a plaque for South Florida Community College and Certificates of Participation for each person singing that night, and taken on a cruise of the New York Harbor after the show!
