Honors Courses:
A variety of honors courses provide the exact learning challenge you want:
Academically rigorous classes that transfer
A participatory teaching style that fosters students’ critical thinking abilities and independence, rather than just more work and tougher standards
Restricted enrollment (maximum 15 students per section)

In-State Transfers:
We facilitate students’ direct transfers into an honors program in their major at a Florida four-year institution, or a college-wide honors program for the Bachelor’s degree at a Florida four-year institution.

Currently, we have written agreements with the Honors Program at the University of Central Florida, the University of Tampa, and verbal agreements with several other Honors Programs.
Text Box: How do I enroll in the Honors Program?

The Honors Program at South Florida Community College provides several avenues for entrance.  Students may want to discuss options with an SFCC academic counselor or with the Director of the Honors Program.

Admission is selective.  To be admitted, you must be able to document that you satisfy one of the following criteria:

SAT Reasoning Test: mathematics: minimum score 600; critical reading: minimum score 550
ACT: English: minimum score 25; mathematics: minimum score 25; reading: minimum score 25
CPT (Computerized Placement Test) sentence skills component, or FCELPT (Florida College Entry-Level Placement Test) sentence structure component: Minumum score 111
High school cumulative GPA of 3.65 or better (on a 4.0 scale), or rank at top 5% of high school class
College cumulative GPA of 3.30 in at least 12 hours of college credit courses
Application by letter to the Honors Council, accompanied by two letters of recommendation from college instructors.  This option requires a personal interview with the Honors Council

Can I take an Honors course even if I am not in the Program?

You may take an Honors course with the Instructor’s permission; you may find it so enjoyable that you want to join!
Text Box: How do I graduate with Honors?

To complete the Associate in Arts Degree with Honors, you must do the following:

Complete 60 credit hours of course work in the Division of Arts and Sciences.  Fifteen (15) of these credit hours must be earned in Honors courses.  These must include:
	O	IDH 2001-06, The Honors Seminar (3 credits).
	O	IDH-1107, The Competitive Edge (1 credit)
2.	Achieve a 3.30 cumulative GPA
3.	Submit a portfolio to the Honors Director which demonstrates your honors-level 	achievement in the following core academic areas; writing, research skills, critical 	thinking, and rhetorical and logical analysis
4.	Make a successful oral presentation using visual aids and/or technological 	enhancement 
5.	Complete and log 25 hours of service-learning 
6.	Complete any additional requirements for your Associate in Arts degree
