Text Box: Paris to the Pyrenees (10 days)
SFCC Spring Break Educational Tour with Cathy Cranford Futral, Professor, Art
(proposed dates) March 15-24, 2007
Thursday, March 15—bus or vans to Orlando airport for overnight flight to Paris, France.
Friday, March 16—Paris tour director meets group at the airport to escort everyone to the hotel.  Scheduled that afternoon is a walking tour.
Saturday, March 17—Paris.  After breakfast, our tour begins with an escorted bus tour of the sights of Paris:  Place de la Concorde, the Champs Elyssees, and Arc de Triomphe, the Invalides, the Opera, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame.  Then the Louvre Museum for lunch (on your own) and an afternoon to see the world’s most valuable art treasures.  Meet back for dinner.
Sunday, March 18—Paris. This is a free day for more sightseeing, shopping, and experiencing the beauty of Paris.  The Orsay museum is a must, and if time, the Pompidou. (B + D).
Monday, March 19—Paris, Chartres, Loire Valley. This morning after breakfast and luggage loaded on the bus, we head for Chartres Cathedral, and then on the ChenonceauI and Chambord Chateaus.  Overnight in areas with dinner.
Tuesday, March 20—Leaving Loire Valley after breakfast using the fast train (“the TGV”) bound for Toulouse in the south of France, arriving in Barcelona, Spain by evening for dinner!  The train is a great place to journal-write, practice your French and enjoy the landscape from the train window.
Wednesday, March 21—After breakfast, our sightseeing in Spain includes Plaza de Catalina, Paseo de Gracia, monument to Christopher Columbus, Gothic Quarter, and view of the 1992 Summer Olympics site.  A stop at Guiadi’s Church of La Sagrada Famillia.  Afternoon free for more sightseeing in Barcelona or an optional excursion ($) to visit Monastery of MontserratI.
Thursday, March 22—After breakfast, luggage out, bus to Zaragoza, Capital of Aragon.  Then on to Madrid with its beautiful landscapes.  Evening walking tour and dinner in Madrid.
Friday, March 23—Madrid after breakfast sightseeing tour includes Piedra del Sol, Plaza de Espana, Plaza Mayor, Retiro Park and Parliament.  Visits also include the Royal Place, and Prado Museum.  An optional excursion to Toledo ($).  Dinner at hotel and pack for home.
Saturday, March 24—Up early, morning breakfast, with luggage out for departure back to the United States.  Arriving late in Orlando.
We could leave Friday, so if this happens, just move dates one day up and that would get us back on Sunday instead of Saturday.
Don’t forget as part of our course you will keep a journal that must be approximately 1,500 words.  That, plus your three papers should total 3,000 words (Gordon rule).
Photos, sketches, brochures, maps, images, and tickets can all be used to assemble your photo album.
