Welcome to Panther Baseball 2008. The players and coaches have been working hard throughout the year to prepare for what we hope will be another exciting year of SFCC baseball. Gone from last year’s roster are Brad Gooch (Lipscomb University), Nick Stanley (North Carolina State University), Nick Polston (Florida State University), Calvin Brutus (Florida State University), Tyler Wright (Florida Institute of Technology), Dale Slimick (Saint Leo University), Sean Bryant (Valdosta State University), Barry Padgett University of North Florida), and Chad Colestock (University of Florida). SFCC would like to wish all of these young men our best and thank them for the contributions they made to Panther Baseball. Returning from last year’s team are pitchers Andrew Barbosa and Jeff Bloomer. Returning position players are Hunter Reed, Brien Coppola, and Steven Levine. This group of players will be the foundation on which the 2008 team is built. Leadership and focus will be very important qualities for them to demonstrate if the Panthers are to reach their 2008 goals. This season’s freshmen pool has some very talented young men. The coaches have enjoyed the level of work ethic and enthusiasm that this class has displayed thus far. If those characteristics hold true, this club has a chance to be highly competitive in the Southern Conference. Panther Baseball would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the SFCC faculty, staff, and administration, and our sponsors, families, and fans for the atmosphere they help to create at beautiful Panther Field. Our players and coaches strive every day to continue to provide an aggressive and enthusiastic style of play that represents our community and our institution at a very high level.
