Policy: 7.09

Title: Search and Seizure

The president may search the person or the personal property of any individual, including that property or facility provided by the college, upon reasonable suspicion that an illegal act or a violation of college rules and regulations which are designed or intended to protect the health, safety, and welfare of persons and property entitled to such a protection by the college has been or is being committed or has the capacity to be committed.  The president may seize any property deemed injurious or detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of the personnel or students.

The president shall develop procedures for the implementation of this policy in such a manner as to assure that the individual’s rights to privacy are balanced with the larger needs of the college.
