Policy: 1.08

Title: Life-Threatening Illnesses

Legal Authority: Florida Statutes: 1000 PART I, 1000.05, 1001.64, 1001.65

Office of Primary Responsibility: President's Office

The college shall comply with the Florida Equity Act by establishing procedures to ensure that no applicant, employee, or student is discriminated against because of AIDS or HIV, or other life-threatening illnesses.

Education aimed at prevention for all students and staff, to include appropriate curriculum, services, and counseling, shall be provided.

The president is authorized to develop and implement programs addressing this policy.

The college will work cooperatively with the community, health/mental health agencies, and other organizations to provide programs responsive to this policy.
