Title: Seating Access for the Mobility Impaired at Performances

Based on Policy: 1.05 - Compliance with Policies

  1. Purpose:

To establish guidelines to ensure access at performances held at South Florida State College for those patrons who are mobility impaired

  1. Procedure:

To ensure safe access to and from seating areas for performance venues at South Florida State College (SFSC), seating areas for the mobility impaired have been designated at specified locations.

    1. Theatre for the Performing Arts
      1. An elevator is located in the main lobby for transport to the lower lobby.
      2. An ADA compliant ramp is located on the West side of the Theatre for patron access from the lower lobby to the seating area. 
      3. Wheelchair spaces are conveniently located in the middle of the Theatre at row P as well as other areas of the Theatre.
      4. ADA seats with arms that lift up for easy access are also available for patrons.
      5. Storage bins are available for the storage of patrons’ walkers during performances.  Two are located on each side of the lower orchestra and two are located on each side of the upper orchestra.
    2. University Center Auditorium
      1. A sloped ADA compliant aisle is located in the auditorium for patron access from the lobby to the seating area. 
      2. Wheelchair spaces are conveniently located in the rear of the auditorium in rows K and J.
