Steps to Enrollment
Skip Navigation LinksSFCC Home > Admissions > Steps to Enrollment
Step 1: Application
Apply online through PAWS, or submit completed admissions application to the Office of Admissions at any SFCC campus or center. If you are uncertain about a specific major, use the “undecided” code (0003) and our counselors will help you choose the appropriate designation at your advising session. Once your application has been processed completely, you will receive an acceptance letter to SFCC.
Step 2: Transcripts
Have your high school/GED and every college/vocational school you have attended send an official transcript to us. Most colleges charge a small fee and will not respond without payment. Transcript request forms are available in the Admissions Center in the Cornelius Student Services Complex or at any SFCC campus or center. Each transcript must come directly from your school to SFCC via the mail or by electronic transfer. Faxed copies are not official documents.
Step 3: Orientation
All new and transfer students are required to complete orientation prior to advising and registration. Orientation is available online and at any SFCC campus or center. Contact the Advising and Counseling Department for details.
Step 4: Placement Testing
Students pursuing a degree must register to take the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) or College Placement Test (CPT) at any SFCC campus or center or by calling (863) 784-7214 to register by telephone. A photo ID is required for all testing.
Step 5: Advisement
All new, transfer, returning-after-absence, degree-seeking, or college credit certificate-seeking students must meet with a counselor/advisor or campus director.

All returning-after-absence, occupational certificate or apprenticeship-seeking students must meet with a counselor or advisor, campus director, department chair, program manager, or appropriate faculty.
Step 6: Registration
Students are encouraged to register for classes online with PAWS. Step-by-step instructions for online registration and additional resources are available online at the Office of the Registrar Web site.
Step 7: Financial Aid
To be considered for financial assistance, you must obtain and fill out the financial aid application (FAFSA) as early as possible. This information is available at any SFCC campus or center. It is your responsibility to complete this paperwork accurately and on time. If you have problems filling out the forms, call the Financial Aid office at (863) 784-7254. You may also complete the form online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Step 8: Payments
Non-payment of any fee by the payment deadline will result in all classes being dropped. Fees can be paid online through PAWS, at the Cashier’s Office in the Cornelius Student Services Complex, or at the nearest SFCC campus or center.
Step 9: Book Purchase
Books and supplies may be purchased in the SFCC Campus Bookstore, located in the lobby of the Cornelius Student Services Complex, or online through www.southfloridabookstore.com. Have your class schedule with you to help find the correct books.
Step 10: Parking Decal/Student ID
Student IDs are available at the Office of the Registrar in the Cornelius Student Services Complex or the nearest SFCC campus or center. You may obtain a parking decal at the Cashier’s Office in the Cornelius Student Services Complex or at the nearest SFCC campus or center.
