Allied Health

* Student Assistant

The student assistant for the Allied Health program area provides secretarial support and administrative assistance for all four programs: Dental Education, EMS, Nursing Education, and Radiography. Examples of work assignments are answering the telephone, typing, filing, delivering mail, making copies, collecting data, creating charts, and other special projects as assigned. Work will be assigned by the allied health staff assistant. The student assistant is expected to use proper phone etiquette, perform duties accurately and efficiently with direction, represent the program area in a professional manner, and take initiative to occupy time wisely. Applied Sciences and Technologies

* Student Assistant

The student assistant for Applied Sciences and Technologies performs various duties for the Office of the Dean, located in Building T. Within this office is the payroll clerk for the division, as well as the administrative assistant that works with grants and activities associated with the communities served by South Florida Community College. Examples of work assignments are answering the telephone, typing, filing, and delivering mail, making copies, and assisting several departments with various activities. Work will be assigned by the administrative assistant. The student assistant is expected to be dependable, use proper phone etiquette, perform duties accurately and efficiently with direction, represent the program area in a professional manner, and take initiative to occupy time wisely. Office Assistant

Student must have basic computer skills. Student will be hauling and hanging art work, general maintenance on clay room, and painting studio.

Arts and Sciences

* Bridge Assistant

Educational program teaching assistants will aid faculty and administration in supervising teenaged summer participants and the coordination of the program. Assignments includes coordinating schedules, preparing classroom materials and teaching aids, escorting students to and from various activities, leading, extracurricular activities, running errands, and other duties as assigned.

* Divisional Assistant

Assist faculty and staff with a wide array of tasks including general clerical duties. Will perform routine office tasks under the supervision of the division’s administrative assistant; work with multiple faculty as needs arise. Basic computer skills and good communication essential.

* Foreign Language Faculty and Lab Assistant

Provide support to foreign language faculty including various office and instructional tasks as well as assisting with language lab coordination and open lab supervision. Training will provided; basic computer skills required.

Building R-2

* Student Assistant

The student assistant for Building R-2 performs various duties for several departments which are located in Building R2. Within this office are Panther Youth Partners (PYP), Out-of-School Panther Partners, Tech Prep, and Air Conditioning. Examples of work assignments are answering the telephone, faxing, filing, copying, mail delivery, and assisting with PYP files under the direct supervision of the case data specialist. Work will be assigned by the case data specialist. The student assistant is expected to be dependable, use proper phone etiquette, perform duties accurately and efficiently with direction, represent the program area in a professional manner, and take initiative to occupy time wisely. Lab Assistant

Student will assist other students in the computer lab.

Student Assistant

Student will assist faculty with keyboarding and paper grading. Monitor computer classrooms and labs. File documents, answer phones, make copies, and pickup mail.

Receptionist

Answer phone and greet visitors to the Career Center. Assist visitors with software on departments' 12 computers. Keep log of daily visitors and activities. Input data in department’s data bases. Assist office staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

The student assistant for Applied Sciences and Technologies performs various duties for the Corporate and Continuing Education Department, located in Building T. This department conducts or is responsible for professional training and activities associated with the communities served by SFCC. Lab Assistant

The lab assistant for Electronics will perform various duties inclusive of, however not limited to the following: assist instructor with student learning activities on Lab-Volt Computer-based Training workstations; assist students involved with hands-on bread board projects; assist students with proper use of electronic test equipment; encourage students to develop proper soldering techniques; help instructor monitor lab activities for proper safety procedures and potential hazards; insure students maintain a clean work/study environment; distribute and restock electronic components; distribute soldering and PCB repair consumables; distribute MSDNAA lab software and keys; support Lab-Volt LAN; support computer/networking lab PCs, LAN and wireless networks. Work will be assigned by the Electronics Instructor. The Student Assistant is expected to be dependable, use proper phone etiquette, perform duties accurately and efficiently with direction, represent the program area in a professional manner, and take initiative to occupy time wisely. Cataloging and Classification Assistant

Student will search and verify bibliographic records; type; cut and apply spine labels to books; attach barcodes; check book for errors in physical processing; pull books from stacks as assigned, search for missing books. Student will also answer phones, copy, and run errands.

Shelver

Responsible for maintenance of stacks, shelve, shelf-read, and shift books where shelving is tight. Special qualifications include manual dexterity, reliability, and knowledge of Library of Congress classification system.

Student will help setup or assemble activities across SFCC campuses and/or the local communities. Student should have basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Other duties include answering phones, shredding, filing, and running errands (putting up Flyers/posters as assigned). Some weekend assignments may be appointed as well must be able to lift 30-50 lbs.
