An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responds to 9-1-1 calls for emergency assistance.  

EMTs are essential for public safety and:

  • perform CPR and life-saving care
  • provide first aid
  • assess a patient’s condition and determine the course of treatment
  • make quick medical decisions

SFSC’s College Credit Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician:

  • is 12 credit hours
  • takes approximately 4 months to complete
  • prepares students for the Emergency Medical Technician Certification
  • is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; the Florida Department of Health; Bureau of Emergency Medical Services Professions; and Council on Accreditation Emergency Medical Services Program (CoAEMSP)
