A Surgical Technologist cares for patients by providing vital support before, during, and after surgery.

Surgical Technologist duties include:

  • preparing the operating room
  • passing sterile instruments to surgeons and first assistants
  • maintaining a sterile environment
  • preparing patients for surgery

SFSC’s Associate in Science in Surgical Services:

  • is 64 credit hours
  • takes approximately 16 months to complete
  • prepares students to take the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Examination
