Dr. Kathleen CappoDr. Kathleen Cappo provides supervision and coordinates the needs of the Health Sciences Division programs. The programs currently serve our community partners in healthcare, with Dental Education, Emergency Management Services (EMS), Medical Administration Services and Medical Assisting/Medical Administration at Highlands Career Institute, Nursing Education, Phlebotomy, Radiography, and Surgical Services. She looks forward to expanding our current programs and initiating new programs at South Florida State College.

Dr. Cappo has been employed by SFSC since 2003 as a professor of Nursing Education and has taught in all Nursing programs over that timeframe. She has worked as a nurse in healthcare for over 40 years.

Her awards and honors include:

  • 2022 – Recipient of Endowed Chair, Nursing and 2012-2013.
  • 2019 – Recipient of Innovation Grant award from SFSC Foundation
  • 2019 – Integrative Nurse Coach Certificate
  • 2015 – Recipient of Scholarship Award from Anne Boykin Institute
  • 2014 – Appreciation of Service from the Florida Student Nurses Association
  • 2014 – Scholarship Award from the Florida Nurses Foundation
  • 2012 – Certified Nursing Educator
  • 2012 – Recipient of Endowed Chair, Nursing

She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Florida Nurses Association, National League of Nursing, Sustained Member Florida Student Nurses Association, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, American Holistic Nursing Association, Association of Florida Colleges (AFC), Sigma Theta Tau International, IOTA XI Chapter Florida Atlantic University, and the International Association for Human Caring.
