In addition to fulfilling the entrance requirements for South Florida State College, applicants for the BSEE degree program must meet the following requirements, consistent with Florida Statute 1004.04:

You have completed an Associate in Arts (AA) degree or the equivalent, including all general education requirements and required Florida mandated common course prerequisites. Students with a minimum of 60 transferable hours, with all general education requirements and prerequisites met, may apply for admission.
You have completed these lower-division education prerequisite courses with grades of C or higher:
  • EDF 1005 – Introduction to the Teaching Profession
You must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all higher education classes.
You have demonstrated your mastery of general knowledge, including the ability to read, write, and compute, by passing the General Knowledge Test of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination.

Admission Application Review and Decisions

Each application is reviewed as follows:

  • After the application due date, the SFSC BSEE Committee reviews all applications that have met the minimum requirements for acceptance.
  • The top 26 applications who have the highest GPAs and meet all admission requirements are admitted into the next cohort of the BSEE program, pending clean background checks.
  • For candidates who are equally weighed in the admission process, the cumulative GPA of all prerequisite courses will be reviewed.
  • Applicants who are not in the top 26 slots are placed on a waiting list. If they are not admitted into the BSEE before the next starting date, they are required to reapply for the next cohort.

Students who are admitted into the program using the 10 percent waiver provision will be monitored throughout the first academic term to ensure they complete the requirements to remain in the program. The advisor will meet with these students throughout the term to report their progress and status to the lead instructor.
