South Florida State College’s (SFSC) Associate in Science in Surgical Services prepares you for employment as a surgical technologist.

  • prepare operating rooms for surgery
  • sterilize equipment
  • ready patients for surgery
  • maintain a sterile environment
  • pass sterile instruments and supplies to surgeons during surgery

The Associate in Science in Surgical Services:

  • is 64 credit hours
  • is a limited access program with 12-15 students accepted each time the program is offered
  • requires students to be at least 18 years of age
  • requires applicants to complete an online SFSC application and select Surgical Services as major/program

NOTES: CGS 1100C Introduction to Microcomputers using Windows and SPC 2608 Fundamentals of Speech Communication general education requirements are covered within the Surgical Services curriculum for the associate degree.

Students beginning an Associate in Science degree program in fall of 2022 or after must pass AMH 1020 or POS 1041 and the Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE) prior to graduation.
