A Firefighter responds to 9-1-1 calls for emergency assistance.  

Firefighters are essential for public safety and:

  • search for and rescue victims from vehicles, fires, and building collapse
  • extinguish fires of all types
  • climb ladders to access fires and victims of a fire
  • respond to calls for medical assistance

SFSC’s Firefighter Career Certificate:

  • is 492 contact hours
  • takes approximately 4 full-time months to 7 part-time months to complete
  • prepares students for the State of Florida Firefighter certification
  • is accredited by the State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training
