South Florida State College Military and Veterans Application Process

  1. First-time and continuing students may apply for educational benefits at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) website
    • For information about all the programs and services that are offered to veterans and their dependents, visit the Veterans Affairs website at va.gov.
    • Students may apply for VA Educational Benefits at the Veterans Online Application System (VONAPP) or request an Application for Education Benefits form from the VA representative. It’s faster if you apply for benefits online at va.gov.
    • Apply for Veterans benefits and submit correct forms by visiting ebenefits.va.gov. Upon completion of all required documents to the Veterans Administration, you will receive a “Certificate of Eligibility.” Provide SFSC’s certifying official for veterans’ affairs, who is located in Building B on the SFSC Highlands Campus, with a copy of the “Certificate of Eligibility” prior to registration.
  2. Complete and submit an application for admission
  3. Choose a program of study
    • Meet with an academic advisor to assist in your selection of an approved program of study. Rob Hampton is the veterans student advisor at SFSC.
  4. Submit official transcripts (high school, postsecondary, and/or military)
    • All veterans must submit official transcripts from previous colleges/universities attended and must have an education plan prepared by an advisor.
  5. Complete and submit the following documents to Rob Hampton, director, Career Development Center
    • DD214
    • VA Certificate of Eligibility
    • Additional documents may be requested
  6. Apply for Financial Aid (if needed)
    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
