Occupational Certificate
Description of Program:
The Cosmetology certificate prepares you for entry-level employment in the Cosmetology profession. You will use a modern, well-equipped, school-operated salon. During the first 200 hours of the program, you will perform laboratory services on one another and mannequins. After completion of 200 hours, you will perform laboratory services on local patrons and other students. Course content includes, but is not limited to, hair design, chemical reformation, precision cutting, manicuring, nail extensions, pedicuring, facials, makeup application, and theory and practical study of trichoanalysis and chromatology. Upon completion of the certificate program, you will be eligible to apply for the Florida State Board of Cosmetology examination.
Admissions Requirements:
You can be admitted to the Cosmetology Program in August. You must complete items 1-5 to be considered for admission into the Cosmetology Program.
- Cosmetology Application (obtained from Cosmetology Department).
- Required TABE Scores: Reading - 10, Mathematics - 10, and Language - 10, prior to registration.
- Purdue Pegboard Test. There is no fee for the test.
- High school transcript or copy of equivalency certificate must be sent to the Admissions Office.
- Required informational session when items 1 through 4 have been met.
You will be notified in writing of acceptance or non-acceptance into the Cosmetology Program. The Cosmetology Department reserves the right to deny admission, if you demonstrate the lack of necessary qualifications for the Cosmetology Program.
